More than notes on a piece of paper, music is an expression of our deepest emotions blending with the history, culture, and temperament of true artistic creations. That is precisely what classically trained tenor and professional cantor Yudi Cohen brings to every synagogue, stage, and performance hall - an authentic, soulful experience.

Often described as having an exciting and vibrant tenor voice that captivates a crowd, Yudi began his musical journey among the Jewish enclave of London’s Stamford Hill. He was lucky to have been exposed to traditional Cantorial music by his father as well as maternal and paternal grandfathers.

As an internationally renowned child soloist Yudi would find himself gracing the hallowed halls of New York to record solo work. These rare opportunities fueled the fire of musical discovery deep inside Yudi’s heart and motivated him to grow into an accomplished and highly sought-after performer - who would frequently be invited to perform in numerous international locations including China, Hong Kong, Brazil Australia, Israel, Canada, and the UK. 

Yudi’s personal journey led him to the vibrant culture of South Africa. There, he grew into the expansive world of classical music while expanding his repertoire across many musical genres - including Opera, Cantorial, Neapolitan, Jewish, Contemporary and more. He received a BTech in Vocal Art from the Tswane University of Technology where he was the winning recipient of the Pretorium Trust Award and Absa Merit Award for the Most Outstanding Opera Student 2008. He is honored to have successfully forged a career spanning over two decades on the biggest stages and Synagogues across South Africa. Most recently, Yudi performed as Alfredo from La Traviata at the Johannesburg theatre in 2019 to wide critical acclaim.

In 2021, After serving as chief Cantor for 16 years at the world famous Sydenham Shul in Johannesburg, Yudi Relocated to London and is now back on the lively London music scene and available for performance requests around the world, His skill and talent communicate directly with the audience in languages including English, Hebrew, Yiddish, Italian, German, French, and Russian.
